Brinda Karat Meets Family of Deceased Bokaro Protester, Demands Justice and Action Against Assailants
Bokaro, Jharkhand: CPI(M) veteran leader Brinda Karat visited the family of Prem Prasad, a young trainee who died following a brutal lathi-charge by CISF personnel during a peaceful protest outside the Bokaro Steel Plant. The delegation, including Jharkhand State Secretary Prakash Viplav, Bokaro District Secretary Bhagirath Sharma, and BSL Workers' Union representative B.T. Prasad, met with Prem Prasad's parents and family members in Dawadand village to offer their condolences and support.
Prem Prasad was killed and several others were severely injured when security forces allegedly used excessive force against displaced trainees who were peacefully demonstrating with their legitimate demands for permanent employment.
Brinda Karat assured the grieving family that the party would take all necessary steps to ensure the arrest and punishment of those responsible for the killing.
The CPI(M) delegation put forth the following demands:
- A murder case should be registered against the security personnel responsible for the lathi-charge on the peaceful protesters, and they should be identified and arrested.
- A permanent job at the Bokaro Steel Plant should be provided to a member of the deceased Prem Prasad's family.
- Permanent employment should be guaranteed for all the displaced trainees.
The party condemned the use of brutal force against the trainees and called for immediate action to address their long-pending demands.
