Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced the temporary closure of 48 tourist destinations across the Kashmir Valley as part of an ongoing security review and search operations. Out of 87 identified tourist sites, only select locations will remain open for visitors, primarily to ensure the safety of both tourists and local residents.
Prominent destinations such as Gurez Valley in Bandipora, Aharbal in Kulgam, and Yousmarg in Budgam have been temporarily closed for non-local tourists. However, popular attractions like the Wullar Vantage Park in Bandipora and Bijbehara's Padshahi Bagh Chinar Park will continue to welcome visitors.
This decision comes amid heightened security concerns in the region. The concerned police stations have been instructed to implement the closures effectively while facilitating access to the sites that remain operational.
Officials emphasized that the measure is temporary and aimed at maintaining public safety during ongoing operations. Visitors are advised to confirm the status of tourist destinations with local authorities before planning their travel. The administration has assured that the closures will be lifted as soon as the security situation stabilizes.
