Prominent Activist Negar Korkor Passes Away While Pursuing Justice for Her Brother
Negar Korkor, a tireless advocate for justice and the sister of Mojtaba Korkor, who has been sentenced to death on charges related to the shooting of Kian Pirfalak, passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer. Videos shared on Instagram by Salar Vatanshenas, an activist who lost vision in one eye during the Mahsa movement, and Mahboubeh Ramazani, the grieving mother of Pejman Ghoulipour—a victim of the November 2019 protests—showed Negar singing from her hospital bed in her final days.
Negar, who had been receiving treatment abroad, dedicated her life to seeking justice for her brother and advocating for the rights of political prisoners and other bereaved families. Despite her illness, she remained a vocal presence, amplifying the voices of others in her position.
Mahboubeh Ramazani recounted a poignant moment when Negar told her, “Do you know what the pain of exile is? It’s when you’re heartbroken, and there’s no mother, no brother, not even a familiar embrace. I just want my mother’s hug.”
Ramazani added, “Negar never saw her wishes fulfilled; she never returned to Iran, never witnessed a fair trial, and never saw her brother again. Before she left, she hugged me one last time and said, ‘I’m scared… but don’t let me be forgotten.’”
Negar Korkor’s courage and determination will remain an enduring symbol of the fight for justice, even in the face of overwhelming adversity.
