Strong Earthquake of 5.5 Magnitude Jolts Kashmir
Srinagar, April 16: Early this morning, a strong earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck Kashmir, causing widespread panic among residents. The tremors, which lasted for several seconds, were felt at approximately 4:25 AM across the region, prompting many to rush out of their homes.
According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake's epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, at a depth of around 180 kilometers. The seismic waves were powerful enough to be felt in several parts of northern India, including Jammu and Kashmir.
Fortunately, no immediate reports of casualties or significant structural damage have emerged. However, authorities are closely monitoring the situation and assessing any potential impact in remote areas.
